June Newsletter

Hello everyone! This month's newsletter will focus on Secure the Fort (And Remain Under God), A Military Mother's Message to America as we near the book's release in the next 2-3 weeks! (Xlibris June 2007, http://securethefort.blogspot.com)

Below are some updates on what God has been doing in the life of this book!

I recevied my author copy to preview this week and it looks very nice. I pray it will be a blessing to all who venture into its pages. Of course, after it went to print I found a couple of things that needed fixing! Too late now. I guess this will just go to show that God can use all of us imperfect people for His purpose and His glory! :) Keep watching the blog for release info and purchase links....and keep praying for this book's ministry to our troops and their families!
I submitted a poem out of the book to several non-profit organizations who transport WWII veterans at no cost to the Memorial in DC. "My Silent Heroes" will be distributed by HonorAir and HonorFlight pilots to the veterans they transport. What an honor this is to me!
Not long ago I found the reunion coordinator for the USS TENNESSEE's remaining crew members. I sent them a piece out of the book entitled, "Then and Now" that is about my great uncle Kenneth's letters written from this great battleship in 44-45. I asked the reunion coordinator to please feel free to share this piece with all members he is in contact with. I am very interested in locating any still living crew members that may have served with Uncle Kenneth.
There are several chaplains in various military installations who want to review the book for possible use/distribution to military families. This is such a blessing to me! I am simply praying for God to use this book how He sees fit to do so! I have a meeting this coming week with a state chaplain in the National Guard, and have contact with another state's National Guard Chaplain Corp. Whenever God opens a door, I shake my head in amazement at how He's working!
Last night I was able to participate in Bob Calvert's "Talking With Heroes" event and read a devotion entitled, "About Face" during my interview. This was an incredible experience for me as a military parent. Listening to the testimonies given on live radio simply touched my patriotic and Christian heart! I praise the Lord for what He has led Bob to do with this radio show....I ask that you pray for him in this ministry to bring positive and heartwarming stories from the field and into our living rooms. You can listen to all of his radio shows on his website, www.talkingwithheroes.com.
I have been chatting with the founder of www.adopt-a-chaplain.org both about the book and about adopting a chaplain to support and encourage. He said he would love to send the book's info to everyone in his chaplain network! If any of them want more info, or would like to submit a story of faith in the field for another volume of the book I'm currently working on, they can contact me directly.
I am also checking into gathering a group of women both from my church and from Military Missions (www.militarymissionsonline.com) to sew adaptive clothing for our injured soldiers in hospitals and rehab facilities. If you would like read additional information about this ministry, go to www.sewmuchcomfort.org . (**Don't forget! A portion of the proceeds from Secure the Fort will go to helping our troops through Military Missions!)
There is an air force base in Indiana that said they would get back in touch with me about coming there to read from the book, as well as at other bases in our area. I thank God every time I feel His hand at work in this venture...all glory truly is His! I'm continually anxious to see what God has in store.
I have had several base museum gift shops interested in the book as well. As soon as it is available through Ingram Distribution, I will contact them with purchase info!
I value the support and the prayers that go up for each and every soldier, no matter where or how long they serve, and no matter what they do. Just the fact that they VOLUNTEERED to wear a US armed forces uniform during this war on terror makes them all heroes to me! May God continue to bless this great country and all of our men and women who strive to keep her free...
